I am thinking a Tac squad in a drop pod would even be amusing and effective. Or for a one shot ball buster a squad of Assault marines lead by a chaplain.

Assault marines have jump packs and don't go in drop pods. You just deep strike them normally.
The black Templar codex allows 5 terminators to take a drop pod. However, since they can teleport, it's a bit of a waste. What you gain is potentially less scatter (via drop pod rules) and either a storm bolter or a missle launcher from the pod. Teleport homers are cheaper and more reliable if you can pull that off.

You can take them without jump packs in the newer SM codex.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu my flat sealer does not mix with my urethane varnish. I just ruined my rhino I think.

I kinda like the effect that it had...makes your rhino look like it's seen some battles. Brad's stuff is pretty...but it's tough to picture it actually being in a war...it's so pristine.

Was any of your paint or dip still wet when you sprayed it?
Also, never seal your minis when it's raining or very humid. Flat sealant and primer have both clouded over on rainy days.

It was all dry. I have to let it sit for 24 hours after applying the varnish anyway. Also not humid either. I think it's because residual mineral oil reacted adversely with the propellant from the flat sealer. The effect actually isn't very bad though and is kind of nice once I rewashed the area. When I saw the first wrinkles appearing I was thinking all the paint on my model was going to slide off. Had that happen before where the tension broke and pretty much the entire painted surface just slid down the model and clumped up on the base.

The more I look at them the more disapointed I am with the end result.

I think I'm going to do the next squad with a paynes gray wash. I have a sneaking suspicion they will took much better. I need to go lighter on the brown varnish, It's obscurring paint detail and turning transitions into flat colors. Also I discovered the other day that despite having around 50 normal tac marines I only have 1 freaking melta and 1 plasma.

Games Workshop terrain is pretty nice and you get a ton of plastic for your money. I picked a bastion, aegis def line, manufactorum, bascilica, sanctum and a shrine of the aquilla this weekend. It's all pretty modular so you can do whatever with it. All that for like $125. I have what essentially amounts to a landraider box stuffed with plastic wall sections and bits. If I hadn't built the bastion already I wouldn't be able to fit the lid on the thing.
